The New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) was founded at the 1964–65 World’s Fair and has evolved into New York’s center for interactive science, serving a half million students, teachers, and families each year. NYSCI serves schools, families, and underserved communities in the New York City area, offering informal, hands-on learning through various products and services that use the “design-make-play” method to bring delight and play into educating science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Despite its innovative programs, NYSCI’s store does not fully reflect its mission of inspiring curiosity and creativity through interactive learning. A redesign is necessary to transform the store into an extension of NYSCI’s brand—a space that embodies the same spirit of exploration and play. The revamped store can better showcase STEM-focused products, interactive displays, and engaging experiences that align with NYSCI’s “design-make-play” philosophy while enhancing the overall visitor experience.
